Cat-ching Up

Here’s the thing.

I got lazy. Like really lazy. Somewhere in autumn I went through trying to run again.

And then PÖFF happened.

That’s the Black Nights Movie Festival.

Somewhere along the way I managed to score a invitee festival pass that let me take out free tickets/invitations to all the movies at the festival.

I watched 29 movies in two weeks.

In addition to working my 50+ hours a week teaching job. You can just guess how that influenced my efforts to run again. :p

Then the Christmas season and suddenly a friend who wanted to know if by any chance I was pregnant. Och-oh. :/

Not running and not changing my eating habits had had an unfortunate effect on my waistline. So over the Christmas break I reinstalled the c25k app on my phone and went for the ease into 10k programme. Again.
And I died. Or felt like dying. Even one minute of continuous running felt horrible. And then at the beginning of January it got really really cold and it snowed. And it was a genuine struggle to keep on running. But I did.

My aerobic fitness was horrid. The saving grace was that at least I’d kept up my weekly pilates habit since summer. (I’m actually getting really good at various pilates exercises that seemed impossible to master a couple of months ago.)

I’m stubborn though.

And I also added Sunday x-country skiing to my thrice a week running.

The skiing snow only lasted a month but it was enough to get me back into the habit of being outside and moving. 🙂

It’s now been just over two months of running three days a week and pilates two days a week.

I’m up to 40 minute runs. 🙂

I’m down the 8kg of extra weight I picked up.

And I’ve got a second cat!

Unfortunately she’s very aggressive. 😦 I got her five weeks ago and she still has to live in a completely separate room with her own litter box and bed and food. She just mercilessly beats up my older feline otherwise.

They hiss and growl at the door and I’m really scared to let them in the same room. I’m currently dosing the apartment with Feliway and feeding them on the other side of the same door in the hopes of getting them to associate each other’s smell with food…

I’m working hard and I hope everything will turn out well. It’s not very good at the moment though, since the new kitty has transferred her aggression to me in the last week or so: she’s started attacking me and biting when I go into her room. 😦

I’d hate to rehome her though. They are both adorable!

Just wish they could be that way without a closed door between them. 😦

Anyway.

It’s super early spring in Estonia. Weather above freezing, clear ground and sunshine. 🙂

And I’m off to my Saturday run. 😀

After a breakfast of sugar-free protein pancakes.

That’s :

2 eggs
1 banana
1 tbs of hemp protein flour
1 tbs chia seeds
A bit of cinnamon

And coconut oil for frying.

Delicious.
