Done with the fourth week of the six month novice marathon training plan I’m following.
Well. Actually I was done yesterday. 😉
Tuesday – 6.5 km
Thursday – 5 km
Saturday – 11 km
Sunday – 5 km
Total of 27.5 km
Most runs were pretty easy – though I did a fair bit of ice skating and balancing on the Tuesday and Thursday runs… And I was kinda sleepless on the Saturday run.
The only real worry I have from this week was the forefoot soreness following Sunday’s run.
As someone who’s been out of the game twice in the last 18 months with a metatarsal stress fracture (I think that’s the English term) I take any forefoot pain seriously indeed.
Following the Sunday run it didn’t feel painful to put weight on it (so that’s good) but the top of the foot near the smallest toe was really painful to the touch.
I put some ice on it and made sure not to wear heels or shoes that would put pressure on the area today. Seem to have walked it off by the end of the day, so probably nothing to worry about too much.
Will take it easy tomorrow and see if the pain gets worse.
Speaking of tomorrow. I celebrated the first 90 percent ice free run on Sunday. And then when I got out of the shower, it had started snowing. 😮
And it snowed all afternoon and evening and this is what greeted me this morning:
Seems like there will still be some skating in running shoes in my future…
